“The danger of Gian J. Quasar’s fascination with mysteries often assigned to ‘paranormal causes’ is that readers will assume his writing is tainted with secret advocacy and bias— like the majority of hacks who litter this field. Readers, rest easy. Quasar is a superb writer and researcher, and stands alone at the top of this unusual field. Through Quasar, the genre is elevated (finally!) to equal, even exceeds, the highest standards of investigative journalism, and he has the rare ability to distill complex data into lucid declarative sentences— I can give no higher praise.”

The QUESTER

CASES IN THE RAW

Radio and television hosts have stumbled over trying to pronounce his name. He has been declared the most under-advertised investigator of the “unexplained” and at the same time the most influential. But the diversity of the topics that he investigates and the seriousness with17140_101654033198347_5601222_n which he does it has earned him one moniker that fits: “The real life Kolchak.”

For 25 years Gian J. Quasar has investigated the world of the unknown, unseen, mysterious, and macabre— unexplained disappearances, cryptids, UFOs, claims of the occult, ancient legends, and the most undeniable and compelling, the hunt for human predators: serial killers.

Quasar, however, is neither the eager believer nor the humbug debunker. It is because these topics became surrounded by a cottage industry of endless myth and folklore that he entered the fray to find out the truth. Yet he does not tread in this dangerous world with the extemporanea of popular journalism. He employs the tools used in History, coining the term ‘investigative historian.’

“You have opened my eyes for the first really serious look at The Bermuda Triangle. I think that your book is, as you say the first of its kind in 25 years, and I think the best. I think you have the advantage of many years of research beyond where the other books could ever have gone. It became an extraordinarily powerful experience to read it. It is just absolutely wonderfully fascinating. And I was so glad in some respects that I wasn’t reading this while flying in a little plane somewhere across the dark Caribbean in The Bermuda Triangle.” — Whitley Strieber.

The substance of Quasar’s approach is seen in the continuing recognition he has received. His book They Flew into Oblivion inspired a Resolution in Congress (sponsored by E Clay Shaw; passed 420-2) and an ovation in the Gold Room on Capitol Hill. Fiction super sleuth, Marion “Doc” Ford, even carries Quasar’s book with him as a guide in Randy Wayne White’s New York Times bestseller Night Moves (Putnam 2014). Of Quasar and his book, Randy Wayne White declares:

“The danger of Gian J. Quasar’s fascination with mysteries often assigned to ‘paranormal causes’ is that readers will assume his writing is tainted with secret advocacy and bias— like the majority of hacks who litter this field. Readers, rest easy. Quasar is a superb writer and researcher, and stands alone at the top of this unusual field. Through Quasar, the genre is elevated (finally!) to equal, even exceeds, the highest standards of investigative journalism, and he has the rare ability to distill complex data into lucid declarative sentences— I can give no higher praise. Quasar’s THEY FLEW INTO OBLIVION is not only the best book by far on the iconic Flight Nineteen, it serves as the gold standard, in my opinion, for readers and future writers who seek to explore the complex facts (which make a mystery no less wonderful) rather than soothe their biases with fairy tales.”

Quasar’s works have inspired a complete change in the mainstream’s outlook on many topics, and have been cited in textbooks (e.g. Thomas Nelson) and academic studies (e.g. Cambridge University Press). He has written for publications ranging from Boy Scouts to The Review for the Oxford Philosophic Society. Over 30 TV documentaries (History Channel, Discovery Channel, TLC, BBC, SyFy, NBC, FOX, American Heroes, National Geographic Explorer, etc.) have featured him and chronicled his explorations.

What began as an innocent quest for the truth behind intriguing mysteries has placed him at the forefront of historic and current investigation. The Quester Files is now the center of his developing investigations, some exclusive to the website, and it also advertises some of his upcoming books.

BOOKS

A ship rounds a peninsula and vanishes. An aircraft is coming in for a landing and disappears before the controller’s eyes. A pilot’s panicked Mayday warns of a “weird object” harassing his aircraft before he is never heard from again. These are just a few of the documented incidents that have happened in The Bermuda Triangle in recent times.  . . . After 25 years of silence, a quarter of a century of neglect, the first book to document hundreds of additional cases, all with official reports, and present some of the unusual elements involved in them.

Before it was even published, the manuscript inspired the largest modern search for the “Lost Squadron,” a Resolution in Congress, and a 2-hour special documentary by NBC News Productions hosted by Lester Holt.  It is one of the author’s most praised book.

The Quester’s first offering in True Crime. All those who begin to investigate “cold cases” must begin with The Ripper. No book has so dispassionately removed the folklore of 100 years to reveal again the ghoulish and almost supernatural circumstances of each crime and to restore the original and accurate appearance of Jack the Ripper as a soft spoken, clerkly fellow in a dark deerstalker hat.

BOA Audio Interview

From the weighty to the carnival? Yes and no. The pursuit so far may have been carnival, but the object is one of the most fascinating goals there is. For decades the Indians spoke to Whites about two tribes of “hairy” strange people in the mountains of the Saskahaua District of British Columbia. One tribe could speak something akin to the Douglas Dialect. From this, how did a bloated legend of a cone-headed Gigantopithecus Bigfoot evolve? Recasting Bigfoot has quietly but steadily become the premier book for a new generation of “Sasquatch believers.”

A tropic cruise, a hated skipper, a valuable cargo in wartime, a nest of enemy sympathizers. . . . Like Flight 19, the disappearance of the USS Cyclops has become obscured by the mystique of The Bermuda Triangle. In truth, the last voyage of the Cyclops is one of the most dramatic stories of the sea, and its mysterious fate may be the same that befell the King’s Bounty. A Passage to Oblivion is the first book ever written on what even the US Navy calls “The greatest mystery in annals of the Navy.”

A wonderfully old style compendium of the sea’s greatest mysteries, from famous cases as the Mary Celeste, to original investigation and documentation on the “Ghost Ship of Diamond Shoals.” There are also some not- so-famous but equally strange mysteries recounted, such as the disappearance of the T-2 tanker Marine Sulphur Queen. Did it really vanish in The Bermuda Triangle? A compendium of sea mysteries, yes, but with an investigative air to the narrative.

Walking away from nonfiction, Quasar’s first novel SOMA relies heavily on the facts about the mystery of Alexander the Great’s lost tomb in Alexandria, Egypt, and the legends that his body is preserved as the prophet Daniel in the Nabi Daniel Mosque.

Archeologist John Monsieur is joined by a notorious snitch The Earwig. Both must dodge a ruthless collector and a gang of unsavory and comical cutthroats.

The quest to expose the East Area Rapist is still at the top. For 10 years he stalked California communities with an almost military-like strategy of assault. After over 50 rapes and 10 to 12 murders, he vanished. There was never a prime suspect. This section of The Quester Files is unique. It is the only website ever put up with one goal— to document and then solve one of the most diabolical villains in history . . . The Night Predator

HorrorScope: The Zodiac Killer
As anticipated as my book has been, I’m not going to rush it. The purpose of HorrorScope is not to re-chronicle this famous crime spree but to finally present my investigation and solution. It takes time to get enough information to do it right and be legally safe. In a perfect world such a killer would have no friends or family and be easy to expose in print. In the real world, an unsolved one this old and this famous was perpetrated by someone very clever, with family, and it will take much evidence to push it to solution.

Not only has the life of Amelia Earhart transposed into popular myth, so has her disappearance. She has become spy and martyr. Those who believed she died on a desert island, search for her remains like they are a holy relic. Those who think she was a spy, have gone on long journeys to Saipan, Tokyo, and Washington DC to uncover the conspiracy of her fate. What is the truth? This is not a biography of Amelia Earhart, but a biography of the search for Amelia Earhart. I enter the fray for the search for Amelia Earhart not to find her but to see if anybody has been close.

Long in the coming, and still in the works. Despite my name’s synonymity with the topic, it is one that weighs heavily, full of tragedy mixed with mystery. Slowly buy surely I complete the dossier.
