“Tell your Captain I am taking charge of this plane. These are my demands. Let him read them, and then bring this note back to me. Understand? Bring it back to me.”
Florence Schaffner gave the note to the flight crew, Captain Bill Scott and co-pilot Bill Radaczak. Using a special radio channel, they were quickly in touch with Northwest’s headquarters in Minneapolis.
“Stewardess has been handed a note requesting two hundred thousand and knapsack by 5 p.m. Seattle this afternoon. Wants two bak pak parachutes. Wants money in negotiable American currency. Denomination of bills not important. Has bomb in briefcase. And will use it if anything is done to block his request en route to Seattle.”
