The man who committed Federal Crime 164 (Felony Air Piracy) under the alias Dan Cooper was:

Middle aged— between 5 foot 10 inches and 6 feet tall; weight, about 175 pounds. His frame was athletic, wiry. Hair dark brown; eyes brown. Complexion was dark— referred to as swarthy or olive. He had a Latin appearance (Italian/Spanish/Portuguese). Chain smoker of Raleigh cigarettes. (He had smoked enough of them that stain marks existed between the two fingers by which he held the cigarette.) No accent. Spoke in a low, calm manner.

By deduction, Dan Cooper had extensive knowledge of the Boeing 727 and was confident in parachuting. Possibly served in Vietnam (Boeing 727’s were used to drop leaflets out the lowered back stairs). Presumably, he also knew the air route and area of the drop zone.

Whether he survived or not does not change this profile. Along with his features, it remains the springboard to pursuing D.B. Cooper’s true identity. One thing does alter the picture.
